Singapore Sling: A Brandy Twist on a Classic

Tue, Apr 23, 24  |  brandy cocktails

The Singapore Sling, typically made with gin, gets a delightful makeover in this recipe!  This version uses brandy, adding a touch of warmth and richness to the classic sweet and tart profile.

Ingredients:

  • 1 ½ ounces Brandy (cognac or a similar style works well)
  • ¾ ounce Cherry Brandy
  • ½ ounce Bénédictine Liqueur
  • 1 ounce Fresh Lime Juice
  • ¼ ounce Pineapple Juice (optional)
  • ¼ ounce Grenadine Syrup
  • Dash of Angostura Bitters (optional)
  • Club Soda (chilled)
  • Pineapple Wedge and Maraschino Cherry for Garnish (optional)

Instructions:

  1. In a cocktail shaker filled with ice,  combine the brandy, cherry brandy, Bénédictine liqueur, lime juice, pineapple juice (if using), grenadine syrup, and Angostura bitters (if using). Shake vigorously for about 15 seconds to  chill and  blend the flavors.
  2. Strain the vibrant red mixture into a highball glass filled with fresh ice.
  3. For a touch of effervescence and a lighter body,  gently top the drink with chilled club soda.
  4. While the beautiful red hue speaks for itself,  feel free to add a classic garnish of a pineapple wedge and a maraschino cherry for an extra touch of sophistication.

Tips:

  • Cognac is a great choice, but other brandies can work too. Experiment to find your favorite flavor profile!
  • Want to emphasize the fruitiness? Increase the pineapple juice to ½ ounce and omit the Angostura bitters.
  • Grenadine syrup adds sweetness. Adjust the amount based on your preference and the sweetness of your brandy.

Enjoy Responsibly!

This brandy twist on the Singapore Sling offers a unique and delicious take on the classic. Remember to enjoy responsibly and be mindful of the alcohol content.
