The Perfect Escape: Frozen Margarita Recipe

Tue, Apr 16, 24  |  tequila cocktails

The frozen margarita is a summertime classic, offering a refreshing and flavorful blend of tequila, lime, and sweetness.  Blended with ice, it transforms into a delightful icy treat for any occasion.

Ingredients:

  • 2 ounces blanco tequila (silver tequila)
  • 1 ounce fresh lime juice
  • 1 ounce orange liqueur (such as Cointreau, optional)
  • ¾ ounce agave nectar or simple syrup (adjust to your sweetness preference)
  • Cups crushed ice
  • Lime wedge (for garnish)
  • Kosher salt (for rimming the glass, optional)

Instructions:

  1. If you want a salty rim, rub a lime wedge around the rim of a margarita glass. Dip the rim in a plate of coarse kosher salt to create a salty crust.
  2. In a blender, combine tequila, lime juice, orange liqueur (if using), agave nectar, and crushed ice.
  3. Blend for 30-45 seconds, or until the mixture reaches a slushy consistency. Be careful not to over-blend, as it can become too soupy.
  4. Pour the frozen margarita into the prepared glass (if using a salted rim) and garnish with a lime wedge. Enjoy your refreshing escape!

Tips:

  • Don't have agave nectar or simple syrup? You can substitute granulated sugar, but it won't dissolve as easily. Blend for a longer time to ensure the sugar is incorporated.
  • Frozen margaritas can melt quickly. If you're not serving them immediately, consider pre-chilling your glasses in the freezer.
  • For a stronger margarita, add an extra half ounce of tequila.
