Rémy Sour: A Cognac Twist on a Classic

Tue, Apr 23, 24  |  cognac cocktails

The Rémy Sour is a sophisticated cocktail that elevates the classic sour recipe with the smooth and rich taste of Rémy Martin Cognac Fine Champagne.

Here's what you'll need to make this delightful drink:

Ingredients:

  • 1 ¾ oz (50 ml) Rémy Martin VSOP Cognac (or another Rémy Martin expression you prefer)
  • 1 oz (30 ml) Fresh Lemon Juice
  • ½ oz (15 ml) Simple Syrup
  • Dash of Angostura Bitters (optional)
  • Orange Twist (for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. Fill a cocktail shaker with ice.
  2. Add the Rémy Martin cognac, lemon juice, simple syrup, and Angostura bitters (if using) to the shaker.
  3. Shake the ingredients vigorously for about 15 seconds to  chill the drink and  blend the flavors.
  4. Strain the mixture into a chilled coupe glass.
  5. Express the orange twist over the glass to release the citrus oils, then add it as a garnish.

Tips:

  • VSOP is a popular choice, but feel free to explore other Rémy Martin expressions like XO for a deeper and more complex flavor profile.
  • Simple syrup adds a touch of sweetness. Adjust the amount based on your preference for a more tart or sweeter drink.
  • Angostura bitters add a touch of complexity. They are optional, so feel free to omit them if you prefer a simpler flavor profile.
  • If fresh lemons aren't available, you can substitute bottled lemon juice, but fresh is always preferred for the best flavor.

Enjoy Responsibly!

The Rémy Sour is a perfect balance of sweet, tart, and rich, making it a delightful after-dinner drink or a sophisticated cocktail for any occasion. Remember to enjoy responsibly and be mindful of the alcohol content.
