The Energizing Twist: Tequila Espresso Martini

Fri, Mar 22, 24  |  tequila cocktails

Calling all coffee lovers and cocktail enthusiasts!  This recipe is for the Tequila Espresso Martini, a vibrant and delicious twist on the classic espresso martini.  It combines the smooth richness of tequila with the bold notes of espresso and a touch of sweetness for a truly delightful and energizing drink.

Ingredients:

  • 2 ounces blanco tequila (silver tequila)
  • 1 ounce coffee liqueur (such as Kahlúa or Tia Maria)
  • 1 ounce freshly brewed espresso (cooled)
  • ½ ounce simple syrup (or maple syrup for a richer flavor)
  • 3 coffee beans (for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. Chill your glass: Pop your favorite martini glass in the freezer for 15-20 minutes. This ensures your drink stays refreshingly cold.

  2. Assemble the ingredients: Add tequila, coffee liqueur, espresso, and simple syrup to a cocktail shaker filled with ice.

  3. Shake it up! Secure the lid on the shaker and shake vigorously for about 20 seconds, or until the outside of the shaker becomes frosty cold.
  4. Strain and serve: Double strain the cocktail into your chilled martini glass using a fine-mesh strainer. This will create a beautiful foamy layer on top.

  5. Garnish: Top your masterpiece with 3 coffee beans for a touch of visual appeal and a delightful finishing touch.

Tips:

  • Fresh is best: Use freshly brewed espresso for the most intense coffee flavor. Cold brew coffee can also be used in a pinch.

  • Sweetness to your taste: Start with ½ ounce of simple syrup and adjust to your preference. For a richer flavor, use maple syrup instead.

  • Feeling fancy? Make your own simple syrup by combining equal parts sugar and water in a saucepan. Heat over low heat until the sugar dissolves completely, then let cool.
  • No coffee liqueur? No problem! Use ¾ ounce of coffee and a ¼ ounce of additional simple syrup or another coffee-flavored liqueur.
  • Not a coffee fan? This recipe can be easily adapted into a classic espresso martini by replacing the tequila with vodka.

With its bold flavors, creamy texture, and energizing caffeine kick, the Tequila Espresso Martini is the perfect way to perk up your evening or enjoy a sophisticated after-dinner drink. So grab your shaker, and get ready to experience this exciting twist on a classic!
